Collection: Rainbow Banded Calcite

Naturally layered calcite specimens known for their vibrant color banding and striking geological patterns. Rainbow Banded Calcite is a variety of calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) formed through successive mineral deposition in sedimentary environments, where shifts in mineral content and growth conditions create distinct layers of color.

As calcium-rich solutions move through rock cavities and fractures, calcite crystallizes in stages. Variations in trace minerals, oxidation levels, and environmental changes during formation produce the characteristic bands ranging from warm golds and oranges to creams, browns, and occasional gray or pink tones. These layered formations record changes in the mineral environment over time, giving each specimen a naturally unique appearance.
